The Knights of Columbus Council 11144 at Our Lady of Mercy Church has been in existence for 24 years.
We now number over 65 active members and are recognized as a significant ministry in our Parish

The Knights of Columbus is an international organization of nearly two million Catholic men spread throughout the World, united in service to the Catholic Church, our communities, parishes, schools, neighborhoods and the many in need. Our order is the largest Catholic fraternal organization in the world.

Our meetings are held on the first Thursday of the month in Sperry Hall at 7:00 p.m. We communicate upcoming events and items of interest through our e-mail list on an as required basis and also through the parish weekly bulletin and quarterly newsletter.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS

Our main objectives are:

  1. Assist the youth of the parish by supporting the Religious Educational program through financial contributions:
    • Providing college scholarships for high school seniors.
    • Assisting Religious Education participants financially with retreats, trips and conferences.
    • Purchase bibles for Confirmation classes.

  2. Support capital needs of the parish by funding projects where needed.

  3. Provide manpower to assist in parish events:
    • The parish festival.
    • Annual graduate breakfast.
    • Special functions.

  4. Contribute to various parish programs financially when requested.

  5. Support community programs:
    • Collecting for the Gertrude Barber ARC campaign.
    • Sponsoring Little League and Youth Hockey programs.
    • Supporting the OLM food bank.
    • Providing donations to needy families at Christmas.

Our major income is derived from our annual Golf and Sports Raffle held the second Friday in May. Selling COAL (Chance Of A Lifetime) tickets in November funds Bibles for the Confirmation classes.

Since our founding in 1993 we have contributed over $160,000 to the parish and the community.

It's not all work though - we also participate in and sponsor various social events throughout the year. If you are interested in joining the Knights please contact one of the Knights or the Parish office at (814) 899-5342.
